The New York/New Jersey Chapter
of the American Liszt Society (ALS)
The ALS New York/New Jersey Chapter
The NY/NJ Chapter of the American Liszt Society (ALS) was founded in 1992 by pianist Gila Goldstein who since has been the chapter’s president.
The chapter began its activities at the Barnard College’s Salzberger Parlor. Between 1996-2005 it was hosted by the General Consulate of Hungary located in the Upper East Side. Between 2005 – 2023 the chapter has been presenting bi-annual concerts at the Yamaha Piano Salon in New York City and one concert at the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University (MSU) in New Jersey.
As of Fall 2024 the Chapter will host an annual concert at Klavierhaus, New York City, https://salon.klavierhaus.com/
The vice-president of the chapter is the keyboard studies coordinator at MSU, Prof. David Witten. Please see bellow history of concerts the chapter hosted since 1992 and upcoming concerts.
